Steve Metzler has a special place in his heart for Kansas City. He was born, raised, and lives here, and has never even entertained the thought of living somewhere else.  His dedication to the city has compelled him to achieve great things as a civic leader, all while standing at the helm of the local family business well on its way to becoming a Kansas City tradition.

Being a Metzler, Steve has insurance in his veins. In watching his father build the company, Steve had a front-row seat in learning the secrets to success. He then took what he learned from his father, and went to the University of Notre Dame, where his friends quickly suggested a new advertising slogan, ‘Insure your truck with Chuck!’ (Steve is still glad he vetoed this one.) Upon graduation in 1971, Steve dove into the family business, and he has been immersed ever since, adding his own unique brand of humor, energy, and professionalism to the business. He is exceptionally proud of where the agency has been in its 60+ years, and is excited about what he sees on the horizon.

Steve indefatigably carries on the Metzler tradition of cultivating a company-wide obsession over client service. The proof: many of the clients from his father’s era remain clients to this day. And while Steve has indeed made the pilgrimage to kiss the Blarney Stone, no one could maintain client loyalty like that with mere smooth talk. Steve works hard to ensure that Metzler Bros. provides the services, products, and expert-level professionals to handle every client need. And, he maybe throws in a little Blarney here and there.

If Steve and the Metzler Bros. agency have a specialty area, it is their devotion to serving the community. Metzler Bros. insures over 85 local not-for-profits, meeting the insurance needs of agencies from the arts, to community centers, to those who serve people with HIV/AIDS. His personal altruism includes countless hours dedicated to organizations such as Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, Aids Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City and the KC Art Institute; serving on boards, planning and steering committees, and volunteering. Steve even dedicates his hobbies to the benefit of others. He loves the relaxation of gardening, and the joy and calm his beautiful garden brings to those who visit.
