Steve Metzler has a special place in his heart for Kansas City. He was born, raised, and lives here, and has never even entertained the thought of living somewhere else.  His dedication to the city has compelled him to achieve great things as a civic leader, all while standing at the helm of the local family business well on its way to becoming a Kansas City tradition.
Being a Metzler, Steve has insurance in his veins. In watching his father build the company, Steve had a front-row seat in learning the secrets to success.  Upon his graduation from the University of Notre Dame in 1971, Steve dove into the family business, and he has been immersed ever since, adding his own unique brand of humor, energy, and professionalism to the business. He is exceptionally proud of where the agency has been in its 60+ years, and is excited about what he sees on the horizon.
Steve indefatigably carries on the Metzler tradition of cultivating a company-wide obsession over client service. The proof: many of the clients from his father’s era remain clients to this day.   Steve works hard to ensure that Metzler Bros. provides the services, products, and expert-level professionals to handle every client need.
If Steve and the Metzler Bros. agency have a specialty area, it is their devotion to serving the community. Metzler Bros. insures over 90 local not-for-profits, meeting the insurance needs of agencies from the arts, to community centers, to those who serve people with HIV/AIDS. His personal altruism includes countless hours dedicated to organizations such as Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, Aids Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City and the KC Art Institute; serving on boards, planning and steering committees, and volunteering. Steve even dedicates his hobbies to the benefit of others. He loves the relaxation of gardening, and the joy and calm his beautiful garden brings to those who visit.

His career began at USF&G Company, and from 1979 to 1985 Mark dove into underwriting and supervising underwriting in the commercial casualty department. When he joined Metzler Bros. in 1985, Mark began developing his skills as a Commercial Marketing Manager. As he delved deeper and learned more about the company, its ideals, and commitments, he felt compelled to become a more permanent fixture, securing partnership status in 1996.
To date, Mark has logged countless hours gaining intimate knowledge of the marketing, underwriting, commercial, agency administration, H.R., automation, sales and service departments of the company. He has worked diligently to improve the company’s customer oriented initiatives and corresponding internal systems, and has lead much of the new customer acquisition programs, using his self-coined quote, ‘Don’t overcomplicate things.’ as his guide.
Mark does not reserve his talents merely for the professional side of life, however. His personal development includes volunteering and membership in scouting, youth leagues, and church; as well as leadership roles in community and business organizations. His inability to say ‘no’ to those in need does indeed fill up his schedule, but at the same time, gives him a deep sense of satisfaction.
